One Book a day, for a Month
This piece was produced for the exhibition Apoptosis, in September 2016 at MCAD’s MFA Gallery.
Apoptosis is a biological term that refers to the cellular death involved in the normal and controlled growth of an organism. If we study this concept from the standpoint of artistic process, it can be seen as an overview of the methods that we implement daily and that can influence our own conceptual and technical development.
Taking this concept further I made one hand bound book daily over the course of a month, in order to register the details, changes of perspective and craft on each passing day.
This project was highly influenced by my daily experiences, questions, time and resources. The experience was worthwhile for thinking retrospectively on the craft aspect of being an editorial designer.
